Vacuum casting
Silicone Mold, Low-volume Production, Medium-sized Production
The basic principle of vacuum casting is to use the original template to make silicone molds in a vacuum state, and use PU material for casting in a vacuum state. Firstly, create a master prototype(ususally use 3D printing or CNC machining), which is wrapped in liquid silicone gel. The silicone gel solidifies around the master mold to form a mold. After the mold solidifies, cut the mold into two parts, and the 3D printing part is removed, leaving a cavity with a shape exactly the same as the component you need. Then, liquid polyurethane or silicone is poured into the silicone mold, and bubbles in the liquid material are removed under vacuum conditions.
This process is widely used in small-scale trial production during product development, especially suitable for trial samples with complex structures, uniform wall thickness, and meeting certain functional requirements. It can also be used to manufacture high-quality prototypes or small-scale production of rigid, flexible, transparent, colored, or rubber like plastic parts.
